Every student will be issued a durable Smart Card that they will use for every payment transaction they need to complete, from school lunch to T-shirts. A smart card is a pocketsize card (like a debit card) with an embedded chip that can process data.

This card is what allows the system to recognise each individual student, hold their individual cash balances, record cash spent and cash received, record where money is spent, on any specific date and time of day.

This card can be reloaded at anytime, via the secure Axes Education network -- the parent will be notified when the student's card is getting low on funds, and more funds can be added via the internet.

In the event that the card is lost or stolen, either the parent, or the school can disable at the card anytime. This ensures that the student card is not misused if reported missing.
